Fighting Viruses Tips # 23 There may not be an infallible
method to keep viruses off your computer system other than not using the email
or internet connection at all. But why not give yourself the best chance
of keeping your system virus free and still use email and the internet.
You have two really good virus catchers and virus killers available to you in Norton's
Antivirus software or McAfee Antivirus software. I like to use
Norton's and set it with auto-protect enabled and set it to run automatic
updates without having to have an ok. The only time you will turn the
virus protection off is during computer maintenance steps of scan disk and
defrag or when loading new software. Set the program to check
all files on your hard drive, not just
program files and schedule it to do this thorough check once a week.
Check all files takes longer so let the computer do this "after hours"
while you are doing something else. Set it to check
all incoming and outgoing email and to give you warnings if something
is detected. If your aren't running an up to date antiviral software you may already have several viruses on your system. Save yourself a lot of misery and possibly expenseby getting good software and get it up to date....... now! Tips by Jerry Davis (c) 2002TXOL Internet's Central and Southwestern Sales Representative
