Use www.postini.com to filter out all the spam mail and other junk that comes your way.  Go into settings and set to filter out at a high level.  Check every day until you have it trained not to take out certain wanted mail.

Use webmail to read all your mail.  Delete any mail you don't want and believe to be suspicious.  Using these two filters will reduce your chances of getting a virus on your computer.

After checking all mail with the two above systems you can then bring email down to your computer and do what you will with it.  This is where your virus checker should kick in and make a final check of your email for you.

Always keep an active, up to date virus checker enabled on your computer no matter what filters you use.
